$4,750,000 – Age/Gender Discrimination

Verdict in Anderton v. Bass Underwriters Inc. on behalf of a 61 year old underwriter for Bass Underwriters who was unfairly terminated from her employment in favor of a younger male colleague. Anderton received “pushback” from Bass Underwriters after she recommended a female coworker for a promotion in her office, largely occupied by men. Following this incident, male executives began to make comments about Anderton’s age and pressured her to retire, and was eventually terminated.


$1,406,000 – Personal Injury – Negligence

Verdict in Kean v. BC Leasco, LP on behalf of a truck driver for BC Leasco, LP, who was sprayed with aqueous ammonia from the trailer on the tanker he had driven to a delivery site. Kean’s injury was a result of BC Leasco’s negligence in removing the safety flapper valve from the pump that had attached to the tanker.


$1,475,000 – Retaliation for use of FMLA/CFRA leave

Verdict in Hazzard v. Raley’s Family of Fine Foods, Inc., et al. on behalf of a pharmacist, who was terminated for violation of company pharmacy policies. Raley’s claimed that Plaintiff was terminated for filling prescriptions and ringing himself up (zero co-pay so no money was involved) for his severely disabled son on emergency basis after his son was released from the hospital. The Sacramento jury sided with the Plaintiff, who was able to prove that Raley’s did not terminate Plaintiff for policy violations, but for Plaintiff’s use of his medical leave in order to take care of his disabled, wheelchair bound son.

$674,191.00 –Whistleblower Retaliation

Verdict in Monk v. Sacramento Metropolitan Fire District on behalf of an arson investigator for the Sacramento County Fire District who was wrongfully retaliated against for reporting a subordinate who had falsified a report. Following Monk’s report he was suspended, written up, and demoted.
